The Manchester Munch

Held on the second saturday of every month

Celebrations...

The Febuary munch was our 10th birthday munch and was an amazing and emotional day.  Many of you attended and we had over 140 people with us over the course of the day.  There was balloons and cake, lots and lots of cake.  It was really touching how many people made the effort to help us celebrate and those of you that travelled in from as far afield as Scotland and London.

The munch team met up early that day to blow up balloons, which led to some incredibly smutty humour about "blowing" (if you don't get it I'm not explaining it to you!).  The cakes were shipped in, the raffle prizes amassed and everyone was running on adrenaline and a big dose of nervous energy.

The amazing thing about munches, is that one minute its 12 O'clock and there is just the team there and one other newbie, and an hour later, you're knee deep in people, stickering people is becoming a job for two, and the meet and greeters are greeting, hello-ing, hugging and welcoming people left right and centre.

The high spot of the day has to be the speech by Tanos, both himself and Tiana (who couldn't be there on the day, sadly) were instrumental in setting the munch up originally. The speech reminded us about how our liberties are important and how we should value the ability we have to gather in the way we do.  Lord-James was presented with a plaque to commemorate his 9 years running the munch, and the raffle was  launched.

Thanks to everyone that was patient with us during and after the raffle, 35 prizes seemed like such a good idea at the time, and many thanks to Tanos, poppi and lilli for their Informed Consent admin cake. (which I didn't get a piece of *sulks*)

The money raised is going towards the running of the munch over the next year, the website hosting, the domain, and various other sundry expenses.

Many thanks to you all for your support on the day, and hope you all continue munching in the future.
